Glass pad nose imprints

Post by flylow » Mon Mar 17, 2008 5:40 pm

I struggle with air blowing into my eyes using the comfort gel mask. I just began to wonder if the indent left on my nose by eye glasses may be part of the problem. Has anyone ever diagnosed eye leakage as having been caused by the irregular surface of the nose due to glasses nose pad imprints? More than likely, I need different mask.

Seriously though, when I was first fitted with masks, the tec would not consider anything which blowed into my eyes, even if it was so minimal she couldn't feel it with her finger.

It (the air in your eyes) causes nasty eye problems she says.

Before I solved the problem by getting a hybrid mask, I use to put a band aid over the bridge of my nose to help it seal. Some people use that mole skin sold in the Dr scholls foot section of the pharmacy section.
Anything to cushion the area before the mask goes on will help the seal.

that area, by the way, is the most tormenting leak area. Even without a nose indentation from your glasses, most of us have problems there with the air blowing into our eyes at night. I've plugged it up with all of the above and just plain cotton cloth.

someone should invent a face putty.

I've had the same problem with air leaking around my eyes too, so I tried an old fashion eye mask pulled down a little lower on the nose and it took up the room, no leaks............that said a nite or two later, I began to hear a funny whistle noise.....two Doctors later, I found out the seal was so good that air was leaking out of my tear ducts.
Good Luck!

Hi--ever thought of getting NEW glasses???? Instead of a new mask? I have worn glasses for years---no indent on my nose--so you might want to get a new pair of glasses instead of a new mask!! I use the Comfort Gel in the Petite size----it works great,

Thanks for the replys everyone. While I still struggle with leaks, it turns out that every tweak I did with the mask to get the leaks to stop actually resulted in the mask being too tight. When I loosened to the point of being ridiculous, my leaks improved. Not perfect but much better and more comfortable. I had three or four nights in a row of AHI less than 3! You can never claim victory, however, as last night it was 6.7! Rats!

The glass noseprints was just a reality check. I didn't think it was an issue but thought I would check to see if anyone had similar thoughts. I have been wearing glasses all my life and wear them while I am awake 100%. Noseprints are a fact of life. Others may not have this problem but I do no, matter what glasses I have.

Thanks again for the input.[/quote]
