Hello all. I am curious about numbers I am seeing on the display panel of the Remstar Auto M series w/C-flex. Again these are not numbers downloaded from the data card. I do not have the software yet. In fact I just picked up the machine on Tuesday of this week. I slept with the Mirage Activa mask on Tues., Wed., and Thurs. night and just switched to the Mirage Swift II nasal pillows last night. I am currently running in Auto-mode with a C-flex setting of 3. Sorry for the long intro, here are the numbers in question:
Apn-Hyp Index.
7 Day Ave. 5.4
System Leak,
7 Day Ave. 24 L/min
90% Pressure
7 Day Ave. 9.5 cm H2O
My question is what is an acceptable level of leak? Also is it too early to say anything reasonable about these numbers?
Thanks.

I think your leak levels are in the acceptable range, looks like an expected leak rate for the exhaust of your mask.
Check out my chinstrap--> http://cpapchinstraps.com
It sounds as though the leak data is rather low. I have the Mirage Swift II and when operating at 10 cmH20 my average leak is around 39 on nights when I do not show any "large leaks." The manual says that we should get about 33 L/min at around 10 cmH20.
I read somewhere around here that that the M series has bug in the average leakage number and the machine needs to be "reset" before it is correct. As I recall, you need to unplug it at the machine and then plug it back in before it reads the correct value. Hopefully someone here can give you the correct info for sure.
Good luck

What pressure range are you using on your machine?
Did you have a titrated pressure? If so, what was it?

Wulfman, the prerssure range is 4-20. My titrated pressure was 12 and I was initially given a straight CPAP machine (Fisher-Paykel 640) set at that pressure. I thought it was too high, serious aerophagia and when I went back and looked at my sleep study results there wasn't a large change in respiratory events from 8-13 cms during the study. I called my Dr. and asked for an APAP and he said OK.
Thanks for all the responses.

If you want to get your AHI lower, you need to set your minimum pressure higher......like around 9 or 10. You are undoubtedly having too many events occurring between 4 and whatever pressure it manages to get to, to take care of them. That also means you're have desaturations.....and that ain't good.
The closer you set your bottom pressure.....the more of a head start your machine has to preventing them.
