Linda
LDuyer thanks you

Neat birds Linda!
The Golden Plover and some of the hummingbirds have very long migrations also. Golden Plovers nest in the Arctic and migrate to South America -- although some get to Hawaii -- they are pretty common on Kauai in February!
Arizona has lots of hummingbirds that migrate to Mexico/Central America -- a very long flight for a small bird that has to spend most of it's time eating to keep it's active metabolism going! Some hummers nest as far north as Alaska and winter in Mexico!
Enough off topic bird stuff!

Linda, happy 1000th!!!
I like what Al said:
"You are the great go between. The one who does it all."
You make everyone feel at home here - I always love reading your posts! Your gentle, kind encouragement have helped more people than we'll ever know.
I remember meeting you "for the first time" on here twice. Liked you both times then. Still do!
You're a "good'un".

Re: One Thousand Miniature Clucks!
I'm sure glad you corrected yourself there. Otherwise it might mean I've hen-pecked you (and probably so), but I hope I haven't done that. Not to you, the most amazing person on the planet. Makes your globe most appropriate! I've missed you, SWS.-SWS wrote:My goodness... It's hard to believe we've heard a thousand peeps out of you, Linda!

Hi Linda,
The American and Pacific Golden Plovers are quite similar -- most non-birders would not be able to tell them apart. I have attached a link to a web site that has a picture of the Pacific Golden Plover (a little less white in the breeding plumage and slimmer body). They migrate from the Arctic (Western) to the South Pacific -- the American Golden Plover migrates from the Arctic (Eastern) to South America -- waaay south to Patagonia! We always see the Pacific Golden Plover in the grassy park at Kokee on Kauai.

As long as we are off the subject -- have you seen Neversleeps new avatar? It is a Blue Footed Booby! (Yes that is REALLY it's name!) Cool pic Neversleeps!
