Cabin

Post by Heidi » Thu Jun 02, 2005 9:53 pm

On Saturday, I will be going to Northern Minnesota with family for a week at the cabin.

It will be the first time, with the exception of surgery, to be out of my own home with my CPAP.

Feeling kind of embarrassed having to use it...oh well!

Wish me luck!

Oh Heidi, you're going to have a great time! Your family is so lucky to have you there with them especially after your recent brain surgery. Try not to think of bringing your cpap along as an embarrassment. Its like being a diabetic and bringing insulin with you. Would you think of that as embarrassing? Of course not! Both are life-saving measures to ensure your health.
Have a wonderful time!

Hi Heidi,

I'm so glad to hear that you are recovering so quickly!

Don't be embarrassed -- your roommates will probably appreciate the quiet with you not snoring -- at least my roommate last summer at our cabin in the mountains had to wear earplugs! This summer I hope to be quieter with APAP!

Just go and have a wonderful time -- your life lately has had me counting my blessings! You and your family are very lucky!

Enjoy!

Sleep well,

Jane

Heidi...I am brand new to this world and still afraid of it in many ways. But one thing that I am doing that is helping is that I am looking at my machine as if it were a motorcycle helmet that protects me rather than a crutch that helps me hobble along. Just a small thing that is helping me to keep things in perspective. Along with the words of Christinequilts and Rested Gal.

Have a great time!!

Don't be embarrased.I've been on a trip to Branson Missouri with a bus full of people, and just returned from a trip to TN, staying in a cabin as a matter of fact. Most people don't even notice you are carrying a cpap. And in TN it just allowed me to explain the whole thing to my friends.

The vanity will last a short time and then many will inquire about it. You just may help another person. I take mine all ove the country and soon the world and I don't care. I feel better, that's what counts.

Heidi, Remember image is in the mind! It does not hurt the image of fighter pilots to wear a mask and air hose, while they are flying. If being a fighter pilot does not suit your taste and image, then think of yourself as a firefighter wearing a Scott airpack and mask to fight a fire and rescue the trapped child, person or pet. Enjoy your trip, see and feel what God has blessed you with!

Heidi,

While I'm only two days into my CPAP experience I do take trips rather often with friends on their boat. EVERYONE yelled at me about my snoring and all, so when I went for the sleep study, I kept them all in the loop as to what was happening. They are almost as excited about me having the CPAP as I am. It's going to be a little weird putting it on for the first time in front of them, but as they are friends they've all been so supportive I'm sure it will go fine. My girlfriend broke the ice the first time she saw it with "OH HONEY! I've always wanted to date an elephant!" She knew it would get me laughing, so wasn't as crude as it may appear here.

I guess that my point is that those who may already know about SA may be very supportive. I wish you the best and hope your cabin trip goes very well.

Hopefully, for my sister-in-law's sake, I don't fall asleep in the car. If I do, I'm sure she will be more than happy to explain to the others why I HAVE TO WEAR THE CPAP.

I COULD WAKE THE DEAD AND CAUSE ALL THE FISH IN THE LAKE TO COVER THERE EARS, DO THEY HAVE EARS????

I'll miss you guys, take care!

Love Heidi
