Speaking of APAPs

Is there a specfic reason my therapist gave me a CPAP instead of an APAP. Should I request an APAP? I have pretty decent insurance ASR - Physicians Care if that matters for coverage? Or doesnt it usually matter? It seems in all logic that an APAP is better than a CPAP so I was going to ask about it....
