Encore Pro Installation issues. can anyone help?

Post by neillebo » Sun Nov 18, 2007 9:55 am

I was able to install the large EncorePro software/cardreader/sql database on my work laptop with no issues.. However, when i tried to install it on my new home xp/slightly more recent computer, it would stall on installation. It would hang when it says it was installing the msde sp 4(sql server)... i then cancelled and had to do a system restore to avoid a new install error.. same proglem. did it all again and then followed the instructions on the thread by loading program first and then the database. still would hang at the same level..
both are windows Xp sp2. The laptop has professonal and the pc w/ trouble has home. I have disabled firewall and antivirus as suggested on here. I also do indeed have file/printer sharing set up. I also did a full system restore again. Deleted all respiroincs subfolders/folders. Made sure i dont have any more program files/miscrosoft sql files/folders. Went into registry and removed respironics. confirmed that i didnt have to delete the sql in the registry since there wasnt a microsoft sql line there.. rebooted. tried again. same problem. I read all posts on here and no luck

so now, if i want to try again, i need to do a system restore.. Anyone know how to fix this? is it something with the sql database?/ i did note that on my laptop the encoresql folder is almost 70mb large and the one installed on my troubled pc is 43 mb.. cant figure it out. have been on it for hours. I can just use my laptop, but it belongs to my work and will have to turn it in one day...

Really not sure what thread you are speaking of? The Encore Pro ver. would certainly be useful. I am using XP Pro Sp2 and had no problems what so ever. The troubled pc is connected to the internet?

Meanwhile, just a guess, but I wonder if it is in fact installing the database but it takes time?

I know when I was trying to "Export" the database, I got impatient and cancelled but just leaving it alone for a couple hrs (not sure exactly how long it took) seemed to get things going.

We Americans are used to "instant gratification". A spoiled lot!! Ok well it's me then.

I thought the same, so let it "install overnight" . checked it 10 hours later and stil says it's installing. it just hangs. installed like a charm on my laptop.. just wont do it on the PC. so, odd, as i have tried everything on this site.

I always copy my CD's to a directory on the hard drive then run the install from there. That would rule out any problems w/Cd or CD drive.
