I have been using a full face mask for awhile--I finally have enough clear-headedness to actually ask some questions and found this wonderful site. I waited over four years for a diagnosis (I live in a very rural area) so I had some serious sleep depravation to overcome.
I have very irritated skin where ever the mask touches. I have read most of the suggestions already posted--soaking the mask, especially a new one. I must be one of the people do have an allergic reaction to silicone rubber chemicals.
Up until a month ago I was on a skin antibiotic, tetracylin, which was prescribed for a different problem before I got the OSA diagnosis. I really don't want to be on that for the rest of my life. When I stopped taking it, the skin around my nose and mouth became so sore, red, scabby, etc. I can hardly stand it.
I have tried making my own removable "liner" out of cotton flannel with minimal success. I will try the tape and/or mole skin suggestions.
If anybody else has any other suggestions, I would really appreciate hearing them. Thanks.
