Babs, Birdshell, everyone,
I think of that B-52's song, "Rock Lobster" with the one line "Everybody has matching towels!" but instead: "Everyone has matching hose socks!"
I did think about the matching thing, but since I don't have designer anything and since I don't even take the time to make sure the sheets match the pillow cases, I probably am not going to worry too much about coordination of decor.
Long johns are a great answer to the hose sock thing, but for me, I have to admit, duct tape in the bed scene is a little in the realm of Babs' ball-gag. Not much sleep there...
Norseman, I think you'd need more than one bandage, but it might work. Alternatively, you could do a hybrid where you wrap the hose first in fleece or thermal underwear, then in an ace bandage instead of velcro or duct tape. Either way, I imagine it would be a lot less bendy - and with a heavier feel to it like a water hose. Have you tried it?
I have to admit, Offerocker's work puts my efforts to shame. She also offers monogramming for those of us who are design conscious.
I tried the sewing machine route, but fleece just doesn't seem to work on my wife's Singer either. It probably needs a different foot and a pressure change, and for that, I don't have enough practice or sewing savvy to figure it out. That's why I used string and a fat needle. Otherwise, I might have considered the velcro along the seam idea that echo suggested.
I made 2 long and one short hose socks. I'm going to take Bab's suggestion and scrunch them all onto the hose together with velcro secure ties.
I'll let everyone know the outcome tomorrow morning!
