OptiLife-mask leaks

Post by sleepngo » Thu Sep 27, 2007 4:59 pm

I have been using the OptiLife nasal pillows mask for about a month now and it works really well, but this morning I noticed air blowing on my chin, just below the bottom of the pillows cushion that attaches to the mask body. I squeezed the front and back of the cushion together, but air continued to leak from under the mask pillows cushion attached to the mask body. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do, if anything?

Dan

I have bewen using mine for about 4 months now and have never had the problem you describe. I am still using the original nasal pillows, but you might consider replacing yours. Having said that, only one month is far shorter than I would hope for the pillows to last.

Traveling sucks... Traveling with CPAP blows.

I'd rather be diving, then it is a good thing to breathe through your mouth.

I had this problem and discovered I had the pilow upside down on the mask or in other words on backwards and it will leak and is hard to get to fit. Surely that isn't your problem though. Regards Jim

That's the first thing that went through my mind, did I have the pillows on right and indeed I did. I inspected the mask and pillows for cracks or any other deformity but couldn't find anything wrong with the hard plastic part of the mask or the pillows. I think the pillows are a little big for the mask and that is probably why it is leaking, or the plastic part that the pillows attaches to may be deformed. Will soon find out when the new pillows arrive, in the mean time I will use the medium pillows, they work but my right Nari is a little bigger than the left, so I am using the large pillows, that pair is leaking.
