Resmed H3i Humidifier and leak rate

Post by Unrested1 » Mon Sep 10, 2007 6:17 am

Hi,
Finally joined this merry group after 5 months of lurking. Most of your info has been a great help. Thanks to all of you!

My leak rates have been horrible .76. Someone here suggested that they should test their machine without the humidifier and make sure that their mouth was closed. I did that two nights ago and my leak rate was 36! I tore my humidifier apart looking for a problem and the only thing I found and cleaned was the flexible cover seal. Last night I tried the humidifier again and the numbers are .76 . Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Pat

INTERESTING! Especially since I have both a Resmed S8 Elite and a Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage.

I would think you'd get the best, most accurate answer by contacting Resmed themselves. Via e-mail or even via phone. The one time I called I was put right thru to Engineering and got very good and satisfactory answer and service.

Be sure to let us know what you find out if you get the answer from Resmed or someplace other than this post!!!! Please.

DSM - have you got any thoughts or comments about this??

With that much air leaking, if it were coming from the humidifier you should be able to hear or feel it. You might want to try to listen/feel for air leaking around the humidifier cover.

Good Luck,

See what happens to your leak rate if you leave the Humidifier empty with the control set to fully anti-clockwise. If it drops to near .36 again, the problem (whatever it is) is almost certainly not in the H3i.

Cheers,

Bill
