Where can "we" view masks?

Post by airhead » Sun Dec 05, 2004 6:01 pm

I have a mask with velcro straps and blue soft "thingys" that touch my face etc. I dont have a clue as to its name model or style. I keep hearing about a "mirage" and ultra mirage ... Im curious as to what they look like. My mask is the nose only. You have to inhale and exhale through your nose. This nose is clogged bigtime without lots of over the counter inhalers etc....I have heard that its better to breathe through your nose with or without the mask, and am trying my best not to switch to a full face mask if possible. BUT....the way Im going Im gonna be addicted to nose sprays etc. Will my sinus's ever clear up? Its only since cpap I've been stuffed up a alot. Thanks in advance for your experienced opinions.

I had the same problem too, I had My Doctor give some Claritin D, I would take it a few hours before bed, but it seemed to wire me and I'm not too sure if I had problems falling asleep from the Claritan or if it was from getting more sleep than usual, but it would take me hours to fall asleep. Since the cooler weather has arrived I dis-continued the Claritin as My alergies aren't bothering me much now. I also think the humidifier may have helped it some too.

Hi,

My doctor just prescribed a mild corticosteriodal spray for me, and I assume that in time it will help with my mild congestion. It has been helping somewhat, but i have the feeling it is a cumulative therapy.

I too have been considering getting a full face mask - perhaps having a nasal mask as well. I need to move quickly on this though, because my titration study is this Weds, and I want to be used to whatever I wear for it.

See an Ear Nose and Throad doctor and he or she will suggest alternatives for you.

To view different masks - to help you identify yours - check out: https://www.cpap.com/maskguide.php or http://www.cpap.net/cpap_products_masks.htm.

Airhead,

Where did you get your "stuff?" Each of my "mirage" masks came with a fancy zippered case (with the name of the model on the outside) and a fist full of literature and even a CD-rom with a fitting video. If you bought it from a homecare agency ask them where the rest of your "stuff" is.

If you happen to have a mirage Activa you can move the mask down over your mouth. The top of the cushy pillow part will plug your nose and the forehead support will rest at about your eyebrows. This may not be a permenant solution but it sure works in a pinch.
Sincerely,
wading thru the muck of the sleep study/DME/Insurance money pit!

I also have a stuffed up nose and found it very difficult to breath through my nose when sleep. My doctor prescribed Fluonase to take care of the stuffiness. I spray an hour before I go to bed. This with the combination of the air pressure takes care of it.
I don't do mornings !!!
