Good experience with the sleep lab

Post by jqp » Tue Aug 21, 2007 5:26 pm

After my less than stellar start to CPAP therapy, I had a good experience today.

When I was "fitted" for my mask at Apria, they actually just said "here's your mask. This is the one the office told us to give you." They even set me up with the wrong size. It's the F&P 431 that comes with all 3 sizes so it wasn't a big deal.

I've been using that mask for a week and it's really tearing up the bridge of my nose and farting air out the side all night.

I called the sleep ab and told them about this and the manager told me to come in and she'd let me try some other masks and borrow one for a while.

It turns out, I did my titration study with a Resmed Quatro. I had no leaks with that one during the study. She put one of those on my again today. Wow, that fits better. I dont feel like my nose is in a vice. Once I got it situated, it was leak free.

I asked how long I could try it for. She said, "if it works for you, keep it. It's yours."

I hope it works.

On a side note, I finally got a hard copy of my sleep study reports today. At the top of the report, it states "...96 year old male." I'm 36.
I got a chuckle. The birthdate was correct, so I'm assuming someone fat-fingered it.

I can just see them now . . .

. . . "Wow, what a great looking 96! I hope I look that good when I get that old."

At this rate, they might still be seeing you when you're 146 (according to their records).

Hope the mask works!
