Passive to active heated humidification on the cheap
Passive to active heated humidification on the cheap
A respiratory therapist friend of mine, also a CPAP user, suggeted to me that I place my passover (DeVilbiss) humidifier on an electric heating pad. Cost of current heating pad was under $16. I have had good results with this. It should be waterproof of course and at a safe and appropriate temperature. I personally start with warm water to give it a jump start. My humidifier is large and flat so it readily adapts to this. This is not an endorsement of any practice that might be unsafe for you or your equipment. Even without the heating pad a warm/hot water start has been helpful to me, particulary when I did have a cold. It seemed to shorten the colds duration and to keep my lungs clearer. Jack
