Remstar pro and software?

Post by AirHog » Fri Nov 26, 2004 10:16 pm

Is the encore pro software useable with the Remstar pro cpap or do I need the autopap machine to get the most out of it?

Software, "smart card", etc, would give you only what you already know - how many hours you used your machine. As far as I know, Autopaps and some BiPaps are the only machines that can give you the kind of detailed overnight data you probably want to see via software - how many apneas and hypopneas you had during the night. Your "AHI" for each night. With an autopap, software will also show the varying pressures the machine had to use during the night and will chart how many flow limitations (not quite an hypopnea), snores, and air leaks there were.

Well that settles that, the remstar pro cpap's gotta go. I really want to be able to see some info on my sleep performance. I'm still at the early stages of this (5 nites so far) and I think I can still make a case for getting an autopap machine. Thanks!

My DME changed me from the REMstarPro to the REMstarAuto so I could get the detailed informaiton. They wanted my Dr.'s approval, and that was no problem.

Remember that the smart card will only hold 7-9 days of data because it is storing so much more data from the Auto than it was from the Pro.

I am still renting and my DME comes out once a week to change the cards and print the report for my Dr. My Dr. then makes a copy for me. I plan to purchase the software and card reader for myself when I get my permanent machine.
I got used to wearing contacts & braces, and now I'm used to CPAP, too.
