mirage activa leaves marks on nose and face

Is it from having the mask too tight or from the suction of the mask? How can I not have this happen or at least minimize this annoying complication. Funny I finally find a mask I can wear all night and I wake up with these red irratating impressions on my face.

I think you might have it too tight. I had that at the beginning. Not sure if there is a coating on them that wears off or whether skin gets used to it or if it is just too tight but I haven't had that problem for months. I love the mask. Good luck with it.

I really like this mask too, the problem is if I loosen the mask anymore I lose the seal and it leaks. I guess there is a flaw with every mask, the search continues...

Padacheek has a pad for the forehead that will eliminate marks or rashes there. If you are getting marks on the bridge of your nose or lip, try adjusting the angle (then readjust the straps). Marks on your cheeks are from tightness, pushing your face into the pillow, or maybe the wrong size interface. Its may be counter to what most folks say but I have found that if I wear the mask a tiny bit tighter than recommended here I get fewer marks and better seal. Finally, strange as it may sound, I get fewer cheek marks if I wash may face and interface each night.

Good Luck

I've only recently begun use of this, interspersed with use of the Swift. I like what the Activa does in terms of allowing more deep sleep, but definitely get the bridge of the nose aggravation. "CPAP, assaulting noses worldwide."

It's my belief that the adjustments on the mask could be better. I think (but don't know for certain) that, were it possible to adjust the forehead rest to change both the angle of the mask and the distance from the face, it'd fit a lot more people without as much aggravation.

Am thinking about adding padding to the forehead rest to move the mask further from my face while maintaining a relatively 'flat' angle. Looking at http://www.abledata.com/abledata.cfm?pa ... ontinued=0, which I've used in making splints before; would need to have some cotton (or other) covering, as I'm not sure that closed-cell foam against the forehead all night would be too good...

Incidentally, there are multiple sorts of padding used in splint fabrication which might serve well in the CPAP world. Just a thought...
