My first night on Bipap Auto

Post by Patrick A » Fri Jun 29, 2007 12:34 am

Well I got my M-Series Machine at about 1145 am Ca. time. it was not scheduled to be here until tomorrow.

They sent the wrong machine. Or I should say they Sent me a M-Series Auto Bipap and the Humidifier. But I wasn't charged for the Humidifier. I called and talked to Paul in Customer Service and we got it staightened out.

I looked the machine over and set a couple of the little features. I have it setting on the drawer to the hight stand. Got it all set up laid down and took a nap for the first time with the Bipap or any Cpap machine, since I have been on Cpap therapy. What a difference this machine made.

I am going to bed. The first time I have gone to bed this early in months. I will let everyone know how it went tomorrow.

I'm no expert but getting that much sleep and having decent numbers is a great success! Hope it only gets better from here!!

So, you must have found the bipap a relief after using such high pressures on other cpaps before?

I have the same machine (had to--I stop breathing if I don't use bipap) and I think it is a great machine once you get used to it.

I'm glad you had such a great first night.

System Leak
L/Min
51/1

With your good AHI, this can't mean 51 leaks per minute. Please help with translating.

Ah, the lightbulb just went on: that includes the allowed leakrate for your mask.

Patrick, at a pressure of 19 the intentional leak rate for the swift is 47.8. That means a leak rate of 51 is excellent! At such a high pressure I'd be happy if the mask stayed on my face at all!

The "L" stands for Litre, a metric volume measure, not for "leak".... 51 litre's per minute.

Here's Wikipedia on metric to non-metric conversions.

Your numbers look fine so far, bet is sure a relief using that machine compared to other.

Your leak rate of 51L/m is fine given the pressure.
