[quote="SisterShotgun"]:x I found out last night that if my nose is stuffy that the CPAP or the mask won't work So last night was one of my before CPAP nights...I can barley keep my eyes open and 5 cups of coffee is not enough..I called my doctor and told him what happened and asked if I could buy a different mask from him. He listed the prices and I decided to check out Ebay..Well I found a Respironics Full Face CPAP/BIPAP Mask New With Headgear brand new in the box for $39.99 plus $10 S&H so I bought it..My doc had one of these for $195 in his office..

I should get the new mask in a week..I think the chin strap they gave me is a horrid torture devise, and I always manage to rip the thing off in the middle of the night..

Are you using a heated humidifier? Often a HH will clear out minor congestion just by making the air warmer.

And often the humid air actually creates more congestion for some of us. So you have to try with humidity and without humidity.
True.

Non-heated (cool/passover) humidity is my preference. Keeps my nasal passages open.

Since we got the A/C fixed in the 5th wheel I have been using the heated humidifier, I can't stand having cold air going up my nose..I also cleaned the filter thinking it might also be the cause, but it was pretty clean..I took a nap this morning and my boys were in the bedroom with me playing video games and told me I kept opening my mouth even with the chin strap I am now being called Darth Mommy

After the first 5 nights with the head gear driving me out of my mind because of it being uncomfortable I decided to turn it upside down and try it that way..Huge improvement!! It holds the mask nicely on my face without the straps smashing against my cheeks, no leaks, I can lay on either side..I also took Kleenex and placed it in the chin strap and that alleviated the itchy feeling..Last night was the first night I was able to keep both the mask as well as the chin strap on all night..I slept like a log, feeling so much better this morning..

Of course I look like I have been attacked by a box of tissues by the time I am ready to call it a night
