Hi, I've just found this site Great info,I am 45 f with HH and I have just been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and am following up with a second sleep clinic to determine my pressure needs. I have known I have suffered with this for years, i am a light sleeper and awake most time I experince a change in breathing. I have asked the dr if he has ever heard about anyone awaking with the sensatiion the their brain was rolling, flipping. His responce was no. I have this sensation, with gasping, choking, feeling like I won't get another breath, and my heart takes off like a race horse. scary feeling to say the least. My question is has anyone ever had the sensation of their brain flipping within the skull? My sleep study prove that I have 10 sleep apnea episoids per hr, and that my oxygen levels fall below safe levels.
My next clinic is in June and I will be shopping around to research the equipment needed for my next clinic and coverage costs. Any advice will be appreciated. thanks Dar

Greetings Dar,

Welcome to the hosehead club. . The feeling of your brain flipping may be due to the stress your body is under. Adrenalin is released when you gasp for air. Your body needs to react quickly to the non breathing event. Adrenalin can cause anxiety, so can sleep deprevation.

It takes time to get the cpap routine together. You may end up trying different masks. Everyone here is into trying new masks. We are all looking for the ideal mask.

This forum is a wonderful place to ask questions and learn about new products. The people here love to help.

Cheers,

I haven't felt the "brain flipping" thing, but for years, at times I can close my eyes and feel like my body is rocking, even if I am lying or sitting completely still. It's a very odd thing. No explanation, just a little "sympathy" for what you are feeling!
Welcome to the group!!
