Breeze question

Post by JeffH » Mon May 28, 2007 7:57 am

Anybody had the problem of the front clip that holds the straps coming off in their sleep? If so, what did you do to fix it. I'm thinking some small wire ties would do the trick. Anybody?

I was using the clip for some time, and found that I had to glue it in place. However, I discovered that I could get great stability out of the Breeze by doing the following:

1. Get rid of the clip. Attach the straps to the section that goes at the back of your head and the section that sits on the top/forhead part of your head.

2. Adjust the different sliders on the Breeze until you get an exact fit then, carefully remove the Breeze from your head in a manner that does not change and of the slider positions.

3. Use tape to firmly secure the different slider positions so that they don't slide out of place when you apply/remove/wear the Breeze.

I've found that using tape to prevent the Breeze from sliding out of shape while being worn makes for a great fit. The taped-down sliders sturdy up the Breeze significantly and I have no need for the clip that allows the straps to be attached further down on the assembly.

Hope this works for you.

My Breeze came without clips. I initially just wrapped the halo straps around the front tube at the place I wanted, twisted them a bit, and velcroed them. Worked fine, but I wanted something more sturdy for the long run.

I got some of those velcro straps you get at the hardware store to use as cable ties. They velcro back onto themselves. I threaded one through one of the slots in the plenum, and under the tube. I then threaded on to each end the MALE end of a Dritz brand 1/2" Parachute Buckle - which I'd bought for another project that I haven't gotten to yet.

I then wrapped the MALE end of the velcro strap over the tube, and back through the female slot, continuing to wrap around the bottom of the plenum and up, until it was secure. I carefully mooshed the velcro together around the buckles, so they'd stay in their assigned spots on the sides, instead of traveling around the tube.

THEN, I took the female end of each buckle and threaded the a halo strap through each one. I discovered the buckle threading part was too tiny for the hard part of the halo strap to get through, so I carefully trimmed just that hard part back on each strap. Threaded them through, and brought the velcro back around to secure to itself. I then clipped the buckles together, put on the mask, and adjusted the halo straps to fit.

I now have a stable quick release system that is more about daily cleaning than getting in and out of the mask, since it's very easy to do that without unhooking the halo straps. But this way, I can preserve the life of the velcro on the halo straps, as well as having created my own clippie thing and saved buying the part for $15 plus shipping.

Cheers,
Barbara

Mine kept coming loose and falling down.

I simply put it ABOVE the holder, not below it as it is designed.

This requires removing the hose and slipping the holder upside down so it rests in the hose.

You can then slip it up and down to increase or decrease the pressure holding it down.

works for moi

Another breeze question...

Thanks for helping me get the clip to hold, Tomjax. That worked great!

So what do you guys do about the excessive rainout that the Breeze seems to make?

I have taken my hose cover off and put it up for the summer, but with the Breeze there seems to be lots of water and it seems to be because of the smaller hose on the headgear itself. Anyone?

I think it's breath condensation from the pillow shell, as when I examine it closely, I don't find much rain in the overhead tube, but I do find it lower down.

I think it might just be a problem with the overhead design. I think all overhead masks will have a condensation problem. Until the weather warms up enough in your bedroom to counteract that, I guess. I haven't found a solution. I've just been taking it off when I get a snortful of water and shaking it out. I also have gotten used to the water splats and can pretty much sleep through most of them.

Good luck!
B.

I've only been using mine for a little over a month but I have had the rainout problem two or three times. I'm staying in my sister-in-law's basement temporarily and the worst problem was on a night when it was raining, cool, and a high relative humidity. I was having a dream that I was drowning and woke up with water dripping out all over the place. That clamshell thingie that the pillows fit into makes a nice little reservoir for water. The only thing I've done differently was to lower the humidity setting. Since then I haven't had any problem. Of course it's been pretty dry around here lately.

I used to have a polar fleece cover on my main air hose, and a smaller cover on the small hose that is part of the Breeze. Since switching to the Aussie Heated Hose, I have been able to remove the small cover on the Breeze hose, turn up the humidity significantly on the humidifier hot-plate AND, still have no rainout in the Breeze plenum.

I think that the heated hose is pretty much worth it's weight in gold.

On my Adams it hooked up straight to the 6' hose. I would get a little rainout every now and then, but nothing like the Breeze. A forum friend is sending my a hose cover for the small hose.

Thanks everyone.
