WS,

You are free to have this option. You can pay $300 +/- from the local DME for an interface that they MIGHT let you return for another, or you can do your best to figure out what will work specifically for you and buy it online for $100 +/- and be left with selling it on one of the auction sites if it doesn't work for you.

For me, I'll take the risk, trust my judgement and pay on third the price up front. IMO the DME's that charge triple and then say they are giving you a "FREE" replacement if you don't like the first mask are just making a fool out of the purchaser.

As far as the aura interface goes, I can't say how it will work for anyone else, but for me, I am amazed every time I put it on. There is nothing on the market that compares.

In so far as this is at least 3 times a guest has suggested cpapsuperstore, I suspect that in fact it's someone FROM cpapsuperstore trying to get free advertisement.

Buy your stuff where you like, but I have to say my experience has been that the cpap.com folks have consistently given good service, and rarely (when all costs (shipping, etc) are factored in) aren't the cheapest provider.

And since they do provide this board for us, free of charge, we really should support them when possible.

Liam, not a corporate butt-boy, but appreciative of them for providing this space for us!

Mikesus, I think some of the people who are having trouble with rainout and getting a seal with the Aura are using the heated hose with their humidifiers.

I have the heated hose and did turn my humidifier is set on "2" out of "5". I haven't had any rainout problem. There have been a couple of nights out of the many weeks I've used the Aura, when it felt like it was getting a bit slippery and I'd wake up. Not to rainout; but to a small slippery leak that I needed to re-seat. I should mention that my nostrils don't get "slippery" with any other nasal pillows. heheh.

What you mentioned makes sense -- about your Aura sealing fine except for the night it might not have been completely dry.

I think I'll turn my humidifier on down to its lowest setting to see if that prevents any slipperiness at all. The low heat setting with the heated hose does fine for me, anyway.

On another note - I think that any online company which is willing to step up to the plate and offer a refund for a mask return is doing a very good thing for patients. I am very glad to see Aeiomed and cpapsuperstore offer the Aura that way.

Getting to actually try out the Aura with a guaranteed refund certainly makes it easier for people to try a mask that has become my favorite. My Breeze is still a close second.

You said it Liam!

And what's with all this heat directed toward Aeiomed and the aura?

I haven't heard such demands for unconditional returns of interfaces from Respironics or ResMed or Fisher & Paykel? This is a new company, they have come out with a new and innovative product. They haven't had YEARS to perfect their product. All the others have, and IMO still don't do near as well as Aeiomed's first attempt at solving the interface problem. I feel for those who have had problems getting the aura to work for them, but I think in the big scheme of things this company (Aeiomed) is ahead of the curve and should be given credit for it.

The problem is that folks had high hopes for this nasal pillow. The problem is that either it works well or it doesn't work at all. I think this will be resolved with the additional size seals becoming available.

A smaller group just doesn't like the feel of it. There are folks that love/hate all types of masks, thankfully tho, we have a choice and there is competition. Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves by scaring off the first company that seems like it is really listening.
