new to cpap..need help

Post by dakustomizer05 » Wed Apr 13, 2005 6:25 am

Ive have been on cpap for about 5 days now...im using a devilbiss 9000 with a hans rudolph full face mask...my problem is, I havent been able to keep the mask on more than an hour or 2. At this time i wake up and cant catch my breath and end up pulling the mask off.
Im getting a bit discouraged....i wonder if bi-pap would be better for me?..any help would be appreciated...thanks...Chris

...oh my pressure is set to 14..sometime i cant even get to sleep before i feel like im suffocating.

Hi Chris,

Sorry you're having difficulty. I'm not a doctor, but if it were me, I'd give the Respironics REMstar Auto with C-Flex and heated humidifier a try before I thought about going to a bi-level machine.

Have you ever used any other FF mask than the Hans Rudolph you are using now? If you haven't tried a ResMed Ultra Mirage FF mask, I'd also try that.

Good luck!

Does that unit have a ramp feature? If it does, you might want to see if you can enable it...
