CONCLUSIONS: In patients with REM related Obstructive Sleep Apnea, use of auto-adjusting
CPAP therapy may result in an increase in REM %, improved sleep efficiency, and less reported
sleepiness in the morning following treatment. This may be due to higher pressures delivered
during REM related apneic events and lower pressures during non REM sleep where apneic
events are less prevalent. Bilevel
CPAP therapy does not provide added benefit in these patients.
