Apnea, teeth grinding, insomnia

Post by snamvar » Mon Nov 22, 2004 2:27 pm

I am a major teeth grinder braking all my caps and fillings and have been also using the CPAP for the last four months. Is apnea and teeth grinding related in anyway? All the questioners I filled in the sleep lab asks if you are a teeth grinder!!!

I do have a custimozed nightguard that my dentist made for me, but I rarely use it.
How about insomnia and apnea? Has anyone got rid of their insomnia after using CPAP? I take Ambien every night for my insomnia
Cheers!!!
I don't do mornings !!!

I'm also a major teeth grinder. I have a mouth guard and wear it every night. I can't afford to keep replacing my crowns!

I'll ask my dentist if he knows of a link between apnea and teeth grinding. I would love to know.

Good luck and wear your mouth guard

Hello

I, too, have sleep apnea, insomnia, and a terrible problem with grinding my teeth. I also have acid reflux. I'm not sure why, but the guard seems to make night time aci reflux problems worse.

I was on Ambien for insomnia. However, after about a year, my doctor switched me to otc Benedryl (which I use the generic) to prevent addiction. It seeems to work just as well for me. I use 4 at bed time, but I'm a pretty good size man.
