Old vs New ResMed Adapt ASV

For my old friends, hello after a long absence. Has anyone done a detailed comparison of the original ResMed Adapt ASV and the new S9 Adapt? Although they are reportedly equivalent, there must be some subtle differences. I have had the S9 Adapt for about 4 days, after using the old machine since it ...

Re: Medicines for treating Central Apnea

Actually Co2 rebreathing is a proven technique to assist in helping with CSDB and centrals. true -- it is not a medicine per se, but the technique is used successfully by adding deadspace for controlled CO2 rebreathing. Research may be underway for more controlled CO2 applications. It is my understa...

Re: Does Anyone Else Here Have Central Sleep Apnea? (CSA)

Regina, One way to learn more about your apnea is to have someone experienced look at your study results. I would suggest SleepyDave on the sleep apnea forum. http://www.apneasupport.org/forum-4.html Also ask people one this forum what some of the basic terms mean. The "Our Wissdom" symbol above on ...

Re: VPAP ADAPT SV data

Frannkly, the numbers really don't tell you as much as looking at the data and determine justt how much variation one sees in the MV data. If it is a nice tight plot, vertically than the machine is doing good things for you. Assist SV data really isn't a read by the numbers like all the BiPAPs and C...

Regina,
I think you will find quite a few people here with various forms of Centrals.
What machine have they given you to treat it / and or pressure

Re: Lowest Max Pressure on ResMed Assist SV

Banned,
Thank you very much.
I was really hoping that the max PS of the Enhanced machine was lower, but you certainly would know.

A recent sleep study indicated that a lower Max PS might help me.

Lowest Max Pressure on ResMed Assist SV

Does anyone know what the lowest manual setting for max pressure to which the Enhanced Resmed ASV can be set? It is lower than the max pressure setting on the orignal which is either 8 or 9

Lubman, I wonder if something like this might solve that collapsed nasal valve problem: Nasal Support Inserts I would think theoretically this should work for some nasal impedance issues such as rhinitis or collapsed valves. SWS - What a good idea. Thank you. I'm going to show this info to my aller...

Interestingly enough, I just went to the Allergist, who said I had very narrow nasal valves, that tended to collapse when breathing in. Perhaps this is the change in Nasal Impedence that SWS mentioned that is contributing to apnea effects. Time to see a good ENT ... None of this stuff happens indepe...

DSM Glad to see that you are documenting the new experience with the BiPaP SV. An experienced sleep tech told me that the great thing about this machine was the amount of items one could change; and the bad thing about this machine was the amount of items one could change. Since you know your own da...

P.S. Does hubby have high nasal impedance? Swollen turbinates? Deviated septum? Fixing that can lessen his pressure requirements as well. And anything hubby can do to lessen his pressure requirements may significantly help both SDB problems one and two (his obstructive component and his machine-ind...

Casiesea, I think you are right to see what Doc#1 has to say. A sleep specialist may give you a better answer, in general, than a GP suggesting a med. That's not to say that your GP might not have a point - but its best to put you stock in someone with experience in which you have developed some tru...

Casiesea That should be easy. If you are PC based at home with Windows XP and he is using the Enhanced Adapt SV, tell your husband to request that Doc 1 script both a Reslink module and ResCan v.3.4 so he can collect data from the machine and forward her the information periodically for her analysis...

They said his initial psg (just him, no machine) had 75 central apneas. Lead tech feels doc #2 is wrong. His FP wants him to see another sleep doc (#3) that he knows. I also have gotten another sleep doc (#4) name from a diff physician. Should we go for yet ANOTHER opinion? Casiesea I just finished...

gtrump As you can see from the recent posts, there are many opinions on central apneas and there can be many causes. Although it is true that some CPAP settings can bring on centrals, as RestedGal said, a good lab would see that during a PSG. BiPaPs are usually the first attempt to correct centrals,...
