I admit up front that I haven't followed many of the mask topics and posts. So shoot me. There's so many of them, and well, I have no real excuse. So if this has been answered already or it's a stupid question, I hope you will forgive me.
On Easter I visited my brother. He had started cpap treatment and stopped it last summer. (The bum never even told me he had sleep apnea, and at a time when I was agonizing over diagnosis and treatment. Our family simply does not communicate!)
So I asked him why he discontinued (I'm guilty too, I never really asked him why before). He told me it was because of the mask.
He said he tolerated the cpap and the nose mask generally just fine. But he says he tosses and turns all over the place in his sleep, that it was always being a little dislocated and the resulting leaks were waking him up, and he had had enough of it.
Now I know some of you recommend certain nose masks for having better seals. And some like the nose pillows (I've not had them). But do you find any particular nose mask works well for the tossing and turning my brother does? Do the nose pillows help in that situation at all?
I really want to help my brother. He has a heart condition, and even though he says his apnea isn't severe, I worry for him and feel the cpap treatment could help him minimize his heart risks. Any suggestions or links to previous posts that might help me help my brother?
Thanks.

Another mask question, from the peanut gallery
Be a good sister and buy him a ResMed Mirage Swift from cpap.com

If you're a good sister to him, maybe you'll find he'll be a better brother to you.

Re: Another mask question, from the peanut gallery
This is my first time on this website so I don't know what's being said or has already been said but something that worked for me was using a sleep mask under my mask and over my eyes. I'm on an 18cm flow and felt like I was being blown out of bed when my mask would shift during the night. What bothered me the most was the air blowing in my eyes. I've been using the sleep mask for several months and I don't wake up anymore during the night because the air is bothering my eyes.
Hope this helps you. The masks are only $3.99 at Target so it's a cheap fix if it works for you.

I will try this for myself!!! My prescribed pressure is 18, and it's difficult to handle. I'll try anything! Thanks.
And gosh, I feel honored that I was the recipient of your first post to the forum. I hope you'll consider registering and becoming a member. The advantage is that you get notified by email of responses, and it enables you to edit your posts if you flub up (like I often do) and would like to change it or add to it after you've first written it. Noone will know your email address (unless you volunteer the info in your profile), only the web people.
Thanks again.
