Hello everyone. Some of you know me. Most probably do not. To those that know/remember me, hello.

I have a very rare form of Muscular Dystrophy and am power wheelchair bound. My nighttime breathing is not good due to my disease, compounded by sleep apnea. I had many sleep studies and was given CPAP (failed), BIPAP (failed) and ultimately ended up with a Trilogy 100. Unfortunately, nobody had any clue how to set it to allow me to sleep and feel rested. It was a nightmare.

I came to this forum in 2010 struggling to get information. I was so lucky to have so many people come to my aid and ultimately, after a very long time, was dialed in on the Trilogy 100 using AVAPS. I've been on the same settings for a long time now.

The Phillips Respironics recall made me switch to the Trilogy EVO, which I am currently using (same settings I've been on for years). The recall hit Respironics hard and it's my understanding they are going to stop doing business in the United States. Originally, Respironics was going to let people using the Trilogy keep it but that has changed. In the next few weeks, my RT is going to have to replace the Trilogy. She's been suggesting a BIPAP STA with AVAPS but my Pulmonologist said absolutely not. He wants me staying on a ventilator.

She is recommending the V Home Ventilator by Ventec Life. The only other choice this DME has is the Astral by Resmed but it's design (screen on top) isn't physically suitable for me since I mask up/turn the machine on/off by myself. The V Home has the screen in front like the Trilogy.

I've researched both machines and there are pros and cons for both. I know it's a long shot but does anyone here have any experience with the V Home?

Hi Ozij! I remember you as well. So nice of you to say hello.

I suspect I won't get much information but that's okay. One of my "concerns" is my current RT (who I really like) seems determined to NOT use AVAPS on the V Home. She claims nobody is using AVAPS anymore and wants to use Pressure Support. I've tried to tell her I'm not comfortable changing from AVAPS since it's been working for me for close to 15 years but she's not listening. The Pressure Support mode on the V Home shows enabling SIMV, which is a mode I tried on the Trilogy 100 but couldn't use. So, I'm a little nervous about this.

But, it is what it is so we'll see how all this pans out.

If anyone with knowledge of all this sees this and wants to chime in, it would be appreciated.
