Airsense 10 - why does dial light in middle of night

Post by cpap450 » Sun Apr 14, 2024 7:59 am

I've had my Resmed Airsense 10 for five years, and it works great, and I'm comfortable with CPAP, which is why I don't come to this site often. But I noticed something odd this week for the first time ever - in the middle of the night, rolling over, I saw the dial/knob on it light up. I asked my wife and she said she's seen this too - not very often, but plenty of times.

Why does it do that?

For five years, I'd only seen it light for a few seconds at startup, a bit longer when I'd remove the mask, and a few minutes when the tubing is attached or detached from the unit.

Is the power cord plugged in all the way? Mine will light up and report on screen the power connector is not inserted all the way

Did the rolling over action somehow make the machine think Autostop should kick in - but then it changed its mind?

I've seen this when it resets, like after a firmware update. We''re not talking the LCD screen, we're talking the bright lights behind the silver button right?
The ResMed AirSense 10 is continually updating its software to provide optimal performance. When you see flashing lights on the screen and buttons this means that ResMed is upgrading its software. Software upgrades can take up to 10 minutes to complete and require no effort on your part.
Not a fan of firmware updates during my therapy!

I was not aware you could 'pause' a session... I just use the top button and stop/start a new one. This might explain some of the weird graphs I'm seeing from folks... like it restarts at the same APAP pressure instead of min.

  I don't think that you have to lose sleep worrying about that happening. ResMed is real stingy with their over the air upgrades....I know of one...maybe 2 in all my 15 years using cpap.

I think that when that happens the user isn't using auto off feature at all and maybe takes the mask off for whatever reason. The machine continues to blow but doesn't really record any data and it looks weird but as soon as the mask gets put back on things resume normally. Might see a BND (breathing not detected) alert if it goes on very long.

Regarding the above:
  1. Is there a way to see (machine or Resmed website) when firmware updates were made?
  2. I'd not known of the auto off feature - I'm sure I can find this documented somewhere, including how to turn it on or off
