Re: Please help w/ panic over increase in numbers
Events "drive" pressure up. Leaks "drive" flow up. [ When your ariway closes, there is more resistance so pressure goes up. The machine will keep pushing air only up to its max set pressure. The pressure does not go up when the airway closes. The machine simply lowers the flow to maintain the set p...

Re: Just diagnosed with OSA
In that case you probably did not sleep long on your side during the sleep study (although it might surprise you if you looked at the study) and therefore the "AHI<5 on sides" could well be bogus.I am not a side or stomach sleeper.
Good luck.

Re: Just diagnosed with OSA
sleeping on my side every night would seem to be a bit of a chore, coupled with the fact that doing so would probably cause me a bit of strain over a period of time. Why? You can change sides during the night. There is also a website where a doctor shows a great method to sleep on stomach. That giv...

Gosh, even on the other side of the planet there is a class of people who believe in the fairy tale of free stuff from the government. I should have know this is not confined to the U.S.

Re: klonopin or trazodone?
Can't help you on the drugs but I am surprised you have problems with dust mite allergies. I am also allergic but as soon as I started using CPAP the problem went away. The mites (or more technically their dried doo-doo) are in the sheets and now all my air is being filtered on the nightstand and de...

I hope Nuvigil helps. Do be aware that there is no "Off" button. Nuvigil may still be in your system at night and interfere with sleep. Just something to be on the lookout for.
Good luck.

Re: Hospital IGNORED my doc's PAP order!!!
On a side note, after I was fully awake and had no problems breathing, just for "Fun" I took off the O2 sensor. The alarm goes off, and it took them 12 minutes (I timed it!) before someone came over to check it out! How low does O2 have to drop to set off the alarm on hospital machines?

This might take some time to get my mind in the right frame. Having something in my mouth attached to a little tube sounds invasive and unsanitary.

Re: challenging the diagnosis of sleep apnea
I have insomnia besides the diagnosed apnea. Hard to fall asleep, and I wake up because of that regardless of apnea. Meditation, which helps somewhat (I am just in the initial phase of learning how to do that), You talk about meditation but you don't mention sleep hygiene. Do you know what good sle...
