BiPap straining sound/noise

Post by LandOfNod » Wed Apr 03, 2024 4:31 am

I thought I was imagining strange, faint, high pitch noise for the last couple weeks. (I’m extremely sensitive to sounds) Tonight, the sound is hard to describe. It sounds like a child’s police car siren that is running out of batteries. It is when he is in-taking air. So every time he breathes or air is pushed in, it makes this noise. He changes the air filter, hose, mask, and straps timely. In the last 10 years, it has never made this noise.

Machine is RESMED AirCurve 10.

I tried to upload a recording of the sound, but it will not accept any form (recording file or video).

Can anyone save my sanity?

Thanks!

I would suggest, when you hear the sound, try to locate exactly where its coming from. From the machine or from the mask. Report back once you've made this determination.

Motors wear out. How many hours do you have on this machine? I replaced my Airsense 10 motor at 22,000 hours, that's 7 years of 8 hours/night. It was not making any noise, but the 'motor life' message came up.

I did buy a new machine when I rebuilt the old one... afraid of breaking anything I guess... but the motor replacement/cleaning went smoothly, there are several YouTube videos to help with this. Amazon sells new motors for 130$. It's time for either a new machine or a new motor is my guess. The Hours meter is located in your Menu/About selection.
