Smartcard & Software for the old Respironics M-Series??

Post by JoyD. » Thu Feb 23, 2023 2:04 pm

.
I'm giving my Respironics Remstar Auto M-series to my son as a backup. (I now have two Airsense 10 machines for my own APAP & backup).

Right now he has the cheapest "bare bones" ResMed constant-pressure CPAP that the DME pawned off on him. But, fortunately he does well on it. But he said he wanted a backup.

I understand that my old M-Series came out in 2008-2009 before Phillips joined Respironics . . . and the machine is NOT one of the recalled machines.

My questions: This old Remstar M-Series uses a large (c. 2" x 3.25") Encorepro smart card which I believe has been discontinued.
1) I forget what was it actually used for? Input to the provider only??
2) Will the machine run WITHOUT the card, and still show the AHI, etc on the display?
3) Will ANY software work with the machine now . . . and are needed (?) replacement smart cards still sold, and the larger card readers?

Thanks in advance for any input.

JoyD.

You can probably find old copies of encore which is the software that reads the card.

Somewhere around here, I've got one of the card readers, which is needed to read the card.

Yes, the machine will work without the card. I'm not sure if it shows ahi on the machine.

It does show an AHI but it's either 7 or 30 day average unless someone wants to do the reset thing to get a single night.
I think I have those instructions somewhere.
I don't remember if it breaks it down into categories though....I don't think it does but even if it did it would be OA and hyponea only.
Provider/clinical manual is available at the apneaboard forum.

For a back up machine I don't know that I would worry about the Smart Card and Infineer card reader or Encore unless I found them for free.

Thanks Palerider & Pugsy.

Pugsy, if you find those instructions for getting a single night's AHI, I'd be interested to have it. Thanks. (I did print out Apnea Board's Clinical Menu instructions for him.)

Palerider, don't think my son would bother with software . . . but if he does, I might like to latch on to that old card reader you have. I'll let you know if we might need it. Thanks.

How to reset the therapy data shown on the M series LCD screen to zero.

==========Resetting LCD Display Data=========================
To reset LCD Therapy data (does NOT erase any data from SmartCard):

1. Hold down the (<-) (->) buttons while plugging in the power on the back,
wait for 2 beeps or 5 seconds, release buttons.
2. Press the (->) key and navigate to Therapy screen.
3. Press and HOLD down the (-) minus key for 5 seconds, therapy data will reset to Zero.
4. Press the (->) key to scroll back to main menu, press (+) key to enter Setup or
On/Off button to exit.

Ok, I just hope I can scare it up... I have a vague idea where it might be.

yes, completely, and add "12 years ago" to the equation.

Here's "the thing"

I stocked up on smart cards and card readers years ago when they were still available and much cheaper.....and NONE are for sale.

And, I KNOW WHERE THEY ALL ARE.

Well, I can't get my son interested in software anyway!  I even offered to buy him a new AirSense 10 when it was on sale for $499 and he turned me down. So, he's on his own now!
