Re: Continued use of recalled Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS machine
Thank you so much for all that information robbob2112, I appreciate it so much! Assuming it is the ResMed Aircurve 10 ST-A that they prescribe to her, would you happen to know if the Fisher & Paykel Evora full face mask would be compatible with it? I looked at the compatible masks document on the li...

Re: Continued use of recalled Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS machine
Thank you for the replies everybody! robbob2112, I am unsure specifically of the settings the hospital respiratory team used for mum's machine, but I believe the IPAP setting is 22 and the EPAP setting is 10, they did mention she needs quite high pressures. When the machine is on, there is "ST" writ...

Continued use of recalled Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS machine
Hi there, Firstly, I apologise for the length of this post, but I will try to add as much info/context as necessary. Secondly, I apologise to anyone who has already read this from me in another thread, it was just pointed out by a fellow forum member that I should post this in it's own thread as my ...

Re: Mask cleaning question
Thank you ozij, I will take your advice and sit down and write out a new post a little later tonight. Her machine is a Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS, manufactured in 2019. It's pressure settings are 22 IPAP and 10 EPAP I believe (the hospital respiratory team told us she needs quite high pressure...

Re: Mask cleaning question
If the hospital that gave her recalled machine didn't even know there was a recall, can you trust them about anything ? Why do you have to wait for your mom to get her own machine? I mean, is it unavailable or is this a case of having it paid by a some kind of health insurance? Its been a very mess...

Re: Mask cleaning question
Thank you again so much everyone for the replies, I really do appreciate you all! To answer some of the questions: The tubing coming out of the machine is heated I believe, but as long as the residue in the tubing is not harmful we are not worried about it, as we are receiving a new machine eventual...

Re: Mask cleaning question
There should never be a film on the water, if there is that also is getting into the lungs. Have you checked the two filters on the machine? Are they new or clean? The recommended change interval is a bit agressive, but if you don't know how old they are might be best to get new ones and change the...

Re: Mask cleaning question
You likely know this from posts on this forum and the praise Resmed gets, but be sure to try and get a Resmed machine for your mum. The prescription from the specialist should be able to specify the brand and model she needs. Thank you, I will keep that in mind. I edited my past post to add that I ...

Re: Mask cleaning question
Not about wipes or cleaning, but many of the Philips DreamStation's had been recalled due to some foam used in machines breaking down and releasing particles of the foam into the air path which a user could possibly inhale. Were you aware of this recall? https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/respirat...

Re: Mask cleaning question
Thank you everyone for the replies :) Why do you prefer powder-free gloves? Are you using gloves to protect your mum or to protect yourself? Do you dispose of the gloves after each use? I just use the powder free ones as I thought the powder may get into the water when changing the water in the humi...

Mask cleaning question
Hi there, Just a quick question, I change the humidifier water and clean the mask of my mother's BiPAP machine every day by wiping it down with ResMed CPAP mask wipes and whilst doing so I wear disposable gloves to be extra hygienic (perhaps a bit of overkill wearing gloves, I know lol). The gloves ...

Thank you! Much appreciated .Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2024 7:37 amThe manual documents it as the Patient breath indication, with not much else.
This is consistent with it only being on while the mask is on, as without the mask on, the device can't determine when a breath is being taken.

Philips Dreamstation Symbol Question
Hi all, Just wondering if anybody could help me with identifying a symbol I have noticed recently on my mum's BIPAP machine display? The BiPAP machine is a Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS and the symbol is a circle that appears near to the inhale/ipap "i" symbol when she is wearing the mask. I am j...

Re: Urgent Mask Leaking Help
Just another quick question if that's ok... My mum's machine is a Philips Dreamstation BIPAP machine, I was doing a bit of reading about the machine and I read that it's max IPAP pressure is 20? Yet, when my mum is wearing the mask her EPAP pressure is always 9.9 or 10 and her IPAP is usually 22 to ...

Re: Full face mask valve issue
Are there any risks from this happening? By any chance, are you overfilling the humidifier tank? Another possibility is rainout - excess condensation in the hose. Too much condensation, and the air flow might gurgle through water collected in the bends of the hose. Humidification is primarily a com...
