Nasal Cushion Masks like the Airfit N30i but without the airtubes

Post by buckeyered1 » Thu Feb 29, 2024 11:15 pm

I have tried many nasal pillow masks but all hurt my nose (facial reconstruction from military so very sensitive), the VA gave me a airfit N30i that does not have the pillows that go up the nostrils so it is much more comfortable. My problem is I am a side sleeper and I pinch the air channels closed, is the any other nasal cradle type mask that doesnt have the air going through the headgear?

Pinching the tube on one side is expected and not a problem.

I have the same problem you do with all the nasal only masks except the N20. They all hurt my nose.

Other masks work better for me and I currently switch back and forth between the F20 and the F&P Evora (like the F30, but the large size is what fits me. The F30 was pinching my nose in medium and the wide was way to large)

With both of those models I have been using cover-roll to tape the bottom of the mask in place and avoid leaks.

And with the Evora it has 3 ways to strap verse 2 like the F30. For it you put it in place where it is comfortable, hook up, then tighten middle strap to contact + a bit, bottom strap to contact + a bit, top strap to just touching your head.... then lay down and run mask fit. Roll around and if you have leaks tighten the strap... here is the big deal, if you have leaks around the nose area you tighten the top strap to raise the whole mask a bit.

I realize you may not be a mouth breather but more mask to keep it in place and not hurt the nose may be a better thing.

Another option is the type mask that tapes in place, no straps, but the tape might be an issue for your nose.

I have not, I will see if the VA can get one for me to try.
Thanks

I received a reply from the VA and they said they don't have the n30 and asked if there was another I wanted to try but I don't know what other nasal mask has this type of cushion.

Nasal cushion masks are very nice for side sleepers, and they are engineered KNOWING that the tube on the pillow side of the mask WILL get compressed. It's not a problem. So if the mask is comfortable and works OK, then a maxim you probably used in the military applies--"if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Yes. Yes. The manufacturers tested the masks with one side clamped off. I often sleep on my side with the tube on one side compressed. The mask performs effectively.
