New CPAP user - Longest night I've been able to keep it on

Post by bopbop » Sat Jan 27, 2024 4:02 pm

22m, 145 lb. First week on CPAP. Sleep on side/back. Don't remember any of my awakenings unless I take the mask off.

Settings:
Mode: CPAP
Min Pressure: 4
Min Pressure: 16
EPR: On
EPR Level: 3
Mask: Philips DreamWear Full Face Mask

Need help interpreting what this means. I've been using it for a week and only been able to keep it on for about an hour each time. This time I did it for about 4. Is there a pressure I should keep it at, should I keep it at a range, etc. Just wanna understand what's going on with my breathings. It seems like when the pressure is lower I have more OA's but as it rises I get more CA's. Is that right? Still woke up pretty tired. Sorry if this is not enough info but if more is needed let me know. Not very knowledgeable but appreciate any help.

  With only 4 hours sleep (and that's the best you have done so far) I wouldn't expect you to feel better and most likely worse. I feel like death warmed over with less than 5 hours.

Please read this thread and pay particular attention to the graphs on the right side

Next time you share a report image can you make yours look line mine please?

Can't really comment....not enough nights with an adequate number of hours to spot a trend or potential relationship.
You are very new to this therapy and it takes a bit of time to get adjusted.

With time and experience you will come to understand what you see on these reports.

If you have time you might take a stroll through some of my recent replies to others.

or if really bored just start reading the stuff in the last 2 or 3 days. I did some mini explanations in some of them.

You aren't getting full benefit for the available exhale relief. Would you like to at least experience what EPR feels like and see if you like it? You would need your minimum at 7 to experience 3 EPR.
Don't worry about a small increase in pressure causing centrals. It's not all that common at the pressures you are using or even with that many people using cpap at any pressure.

Everyone is different!
For me if my pressure goes below 6 I feel like I am suffocating.
I would arbitrarily set the pressure for a newb at 6 to 12 with no ramp and no EPR and see how that works after a few days.
Then you can look at OSCAR or post here for feedback. I find it is a good place to start. It limits the machines range but allows you to observe weather you are bouncing off the bottom or top pressures.
Good luck on your new journey.
