Hi,
This is my second day on this forum, and since i just noticed the intro section, I'll let you know something about me.
I'm a composer working in various commercial endevours - for example, advertising, television, album work, and music for video games. I have always been an avid reader, and read extremely fast. Our house is wall-to-wall bookshelves! Since I had never finished highschool, around eight years ago I decided to get a university degree. In order to do that, I had to attend highschool classes at night. i was mostly interested in physics, so my courses were mathematics, calculus, and physics.
Eventually, I took a math course at the University of Toronto that granted me admission to the University. I started out with Calculus, Computer Science and Physics in the first year. The next year, on a whim, I decided to try something different - I took a class in Modernist literature (Joyce, Yeats, Hemmingway etc.) and to my surprise I discovered that i liked it MUCH more than the sciences!
Taking classes at night was no problem initially. I was wide awake, and participated in class discussion very assiduously. At least that was how it was for the first 3 years.
The point I remember things changing was during a Chaucer course. Even though I loved Chaucer, I began finding it hard to avoid dozing off in class. I was mortified at the possibility that I might actually start snoring! This new development continued, and my a miracle, I graduated December of 2003.
By now it was becoming very clear to me that my former ability to read for long periods of time had become seriously impaired. I now have to read for a time, take a nap, and then begin again when I wake up. On top of all this, snoring was causing me to wake up with a very dry throat every morning.
Initially I starting doing research on snoring only. It was during that research that I did a questionaire on my sleep quality, that I realized that I might want to look into the possibility of sleep apnea. I asked my doctor about this, and he booked me for a sleep study.
I posted the results from that study in the main forum.
In any case, I'm very glad that I might be on the track of solving my sleepiness problem.

My introduction
For Rob
Hiya Rob,
Welcome to our humble abode. Toronto is such a great city. I really enjoyed Young Street and the Eaton Center.
Congratulations on graduating high school and college. That is fantastic.
Reading has been an issue with me as well. I read a page, fall asleep sitting up and have to start over. It gets better with cpap therapy.
I have never dozed while taking a class, but I used to nod off while in meetings and especially during confrence calls that I would take from the privacy of my desk. I got caught snoring once,. I was embarrassed, mortified as well.
It is nice to have you here..
Cheers,
Ted
