Any tips for a sore nose?

Post by ITeach » Sun Mar 13, 2005 9:07 pm

I use the Ultra Mirage FF mask and have a long, bony, thin nose. I find that if I don't tighten the mask a lot, it leaks quite a bit in the middle of the night when my pressures get higher (I'm on APAP from 8 to 20 and have had it in the 13-16 range when I wake up in the middle of the night). But, when I tighten it, it seems comfortable when I fall asleep, but snug, but I end up the next day with a large red mark that remains and becomes tender as it swells slightly. Any hints? I'm wearing size small.

You might try something called Moleskin. You should be able to find it at most drug stores. It comes in thin sleets that you cut to the size you need. It as a self-stick adhesive back to hold it in place. It works for me. I don’t know if anyone else has recommended or given it a try, so it may not work for everyone.

Sore Nose

Post by Marie » Mon Mar 14, 2005 7:50 am

I don't have a sore nose, but for some reason,I was getting a crease under my left eye.I didn't need another crease in my face, that's for sure.
So,I started using bandaids.
I'm told sometime if your skin is sensitive the moleskin can cause problems.I buy the least expensive bandaids at Wal-Mart.I use 2 under my left eye,and 1 under my right eye, just in case!!!

I use the Comfort Classic nose mask. You must really have the mask on tightly to be causing the swelling also.

Good luck
