Hello all,
I'm a 3-week CPAP user who's running the frustrating trouble-shooting gauntlet. One of my unsuccessful attempts to keep my mouth from leaking involved involved buying a pack of Chin-Up tape. I've since sorted that problem out using 2" Blenderm tape (3M waterproof stuff), but now have 23 unused Chin-Up tape strips left. If anyone is interested in trying this stuff out, you can leave me a PM with your address and I'll pop a couple in the mail.

Hod do you tape - directly on your lips? Explain to me. I am having mouth leaks too, waiting for my chin strap to come in from cpap.com. I am so afraid to rip the skin off of my lips if I tape them.

application of tape
To tape my lips, I use a 2" waterproof tape made by 3M called "Blenderm". Rested Gal uses a 2" waterproof tape from Johnson & Johnson. I don't know how similar they are. In any case, there's little worry about ripping the skin off of your lips - the adhesion is not that strong. Go slowly if you're concerned.
I cut a 4-5" piece of tape, fold over one end to make a tab so I can easily take of the tape in the a.m. (thanks for the tip, RG), then apply one half of the long end to the skin under my lower lip, pull up so my lower lip covers some of my upper lip, and then apply the rest of the tape to lips and area above lips. Press and smooth to eliminate as many air pockets as possible. Washing the face and shaving before-hand help.
Application of the Chin-Up tape is the same, except there's a notch in long half of the tape so the lips are *not* covered. The Chin-Up tape just keeps the jaw shut.
