Hi,
I've had my Resmed 10 for about a month now. I am going to be travelling for a couple of weekends and then later on for a two week trip. For convenience, I purchased a Transcend Travel CPAP. I've used it a bit while sitting in my office and it seems to work OK. I'll have to see how the lack of a humidifier will work. Also, got a couple of HME if that is the correct term. The upcoming weekends will be a good test before my longer trip.
Anyway, it appears that my insurance needs to monitor me for 90 days to assure 4hr+ compliance. Is there a way in Sleepyhead or another way to keep trick of the time I use the Transcend? Does the Doc or the supplier report to the insurance company?
Thanks,
Amdrew

Re: Travel Insurance Compliance
Speak to the DME beforehand and see what you can work out.
Note that if you travel with your "regular" machine, it will send compliance data. If you're out of the country, or out of range of a cell network, it will catch up when you get home.

Re: Travel Insurance Compliance
Who told you that you are monitored for 90 days? Was it the DME or did you get that directly from your insurance company?
Most insurance companies will follow Medicare guide lines and those are 21 out of 30 consecutive nights with 4 or more hours of use and you have 90 days to meet that requirement. If you have Medicare there's a good chance that compliance requirements have already been met if you have used the machine every night.
If you don't have Medicare....
Call up your insurance company and ask them exactly what they need for proof of compliance. Explain the situation.
Don't rely on what the DME has told you.
And no...you can't add the Transcend data to SleepyHead and have it count. It's not compatible with Sleepyhead anyway.

Re: Travel Insurance Compliance
Maybe the DME didn't explain in properly. I do have the 30 of 90 day covered. I will give BCBS a call.
Thanks,
Andrew

Remember that the medical insurance, the out-of-country-holy-cow-I need-some-serious-help insurance, will not insure you if you have not been diagnosed and stably treated for as much as 6 months prior to leaving the country and placing them in the position of having to refuse your claims. This may be irrelevant to you, but I thought I'd offer it in case it is important and may have a bearing.
Re: Travel Insurance Compliance
As Pugsy said, contact your insurance company. If they require compliance, they want it on the machine they are paying for. So, you'd have to take your insurance paid for machine with you. I ran into that during my compliance period. I had an S9 that I would have preferred to take, but it all worked out.
