Selling machines - where to list?

Post by raisedfist » Mon Apr 02, 2018 8:24 am

I happen to have somewhat of a collection of in good condition spare used machines...all of them were purchased at some point from secondwindcpap. I already have a main and backup machine, so these are just taking up closet space at this point.

I am looking to sell the following:

(1) ResMed AirCurve 10 S bi-level machine (NOT the VAuto)
(1) ResMed AirCurve 10 ST bi-level machine (with backup rate)
(1) ResMed S9 VPAP ST-A with iVAPS (with backup rate, and iVAPS mode for people with respiratory insufficiency)

I have no idea what fair prices would be honestly, but my primary motive is to get these machines into the hands of people who actually need them, not to turn a huge profit. I was thinking in order: $300, $500, $500.

Any thoughts? I assume listing on ebay or amazon could get my accounts in trouble?

I am unfamiliar with the pricing on those machines, so I will leave that to others, but you certainly CAN list in the Health and Beauty section of your local Craigslist as well as here. Since it is a specialty item, it may take a bit to sell, but others here can give you a reasonable estimate what to price it at. I know you can't post on Ebay. They will take it down, although sometimes people are swift enough to do a BUY IT NOW before it's noticed.

@raisedfist I would be interested in purchasing, I was just diagnosed and the doctor recommends a BiPAP. However the insurance company wants to do a rental and verify CPAP won't work before moving to a BiPAP. I don't really want to play all of these games with insurance but can't afford a new BiPAP out of pocket.

Hello,

I have to jump onto this post because this is what I was considering. I'm a newbie to this website and forum so if I'm crossing some lines, pls kindly let me know.

Below is my story and in reply to Pugsy's PM to me yesterday - for some reasons, I cannot reply to her directly through PM?? If anyone can help me with that technical difficulty, pls enlighten me :) Also, can one of you pls pass this message to Pugsy, much appreciated!

I just retired (hence, the handle) at age 60; I have been using a Resmed S9 for the last 6 years after having been diagnosed with sleep apnea. I'm used to it now, no problems. However, because I try to travel when my wife is willing to go with me, I also needed a portable CPAP. Last year, I got a brand new Transcend mini-CPAP, which was told to me by the sales to be a good one. I tried it for a couple of trips but I could not seem to get a consistent sleep out of it. So, I decided to try the Resmed AirMini which is supposed to be as good as their stay-home type. Yes, so far, it seems to work much better for me than the Transcend. There is nothing wrong with the auto Transcend, and it is almost brand new. It just doesn't seem to be "compatible" with me, if it makes any sense. As you all know, there is no such thing as a try and return policy on CPAP, which means I'm stuck with a Transcend I don't use anymore.

That leads to my question, can I offer to sell this machine here on this forum? I know ebay/Amazon/Kijiji don't allow reselling CPAP. Craigslist is a long shot, I think...
Thx all!
AL

EBay doesn't allow the sale of anything that has the RX label on it.
Now sometimes people post complete mask packages and/or a machine and it slips past the EBay police but as soon as it is spotted they will pull the listing.

Now mask parts...don't have a RX on the package so EBay allows mask parts and any other cpap equipment that doesn't come with a RX sticker on the package.

You can start looking at secondwindcpap.com...but be prepared for sticker shock. These puppies ain't cheap unless we stumble across a private seller who doesn't know the value or doesn't care.
