Sleepyhead AHI Events During Ramp Time
Sleepyhead AHI Events During Ramp Time
Hi All. Happy to find this forum!
My first question is about sleepyhead software and my ResMed Air Curve 10 st
I have been diagnosed with complex sleep apnea, and have been using my machine in the VPAP st mode with a 45 minute ramp time for 67 days. Depending on the pressure settings, my average AHI is about 10.
In reviewing the events in the Sleephead daily reports, I noticed that in 67 days, there has been no (0) events of any kind recorded in the first 45 minutes of ramp time. The onset of apneas is almost always just after the machine reaches the max pressure (currently) of 10-14.6
I find it hard to believe that I haven't had one event during ramp time for 67 days. Does anyone know if Sleepyhead software doesn't recognize events during ramp time, or is it possible the Res Med doesn't record events during ramp time?

Re: Sleepyhead AHI Events During Ramp Time
I suspect that you're not in the deepest sleep during the first forty-five minutes. You might try totally disabling the ramp and see if you're having events during the first forty-five minutes. If not, that answers the question. If so, then we need to ask more questions.
Re: Sleepyhead AHI Events During Ramp Time
Would not be that unusual for me because it usually takes me 45 minutes to an hour to fall asleep. Personally, I would eliminate the ramp, I find it disruptive to trying to fall asleep.

Re: Sleepyhead AHI Events During Ramp Time
Sleepyhead just reports what the machine flags... SH doesn't recognize or interpret anything like that... unless you turn on the user defined flags.

Re: Sleepyhead AHI Events During Ramp Time
Resmed does not record events during ramp. As paledrider says Sleepyhead just reports what the machine records.

Thank You for your responses and information.
Knowing that ResMed does not record events during ramp gives me more incentive not to use the ramp. I did not use it last night. It was a little more difficult getting to sleep, but manageable. I also saw that events were recorded well within the first 45 minutes.

In support of the answer given . . .
Color added by me."In an auto-adjusting device like the AirSense™ 10 AutoSet or AirCurve™ 10 VAuto, end-of-ramp time is when the auto-adjusting algorithm commences monitoring and responding to your individual breathing patterns." -- https://www.resmed.com/us/en/consumer/a ... -faqs.html

I'm glad that you took my suggestion to disable the ramp.Tonawanda wrote: ↑Thu Apr 19, 2018 2:28 pmThank You for your responses and information.

Since I have a Respironics machine rather than a Res Med one, I'm not sure about things like what is recorded during ramp time. However, you found that out from other responders. Meanwhile, you now know that the ramp is not directly relevant, one way or the other.

That is useful info - thanks.Jas_williams wrote: ↑Wed Apr 18, 2018 11:18 pmResmed does not record events during ramp.

Hey, I am originally from North Tonawanda! Sleepyhead doesn’t work with all models of ResMed machines. myAir works with mine but unfortunately it doesn’t give you even a fraction of the details Sleepyhead does.Tonawanda wrote: ↑Wed Apr 18, 2018 1:15 pmHi All. Happy to find this forum!
