Importance of low AHI...
Re: Importance of low AHI...
I have only been using a cpap for 3 weeks but I notice a huge difference in how tired I am if my AHI is above 3. Above three I feel exhausted, my eyes burn, and I have a hard time not napping if I sit for very long. Below 3 I am tired but not tired enough to feel like I even could use a nap and my eyes feel fine.

Re: Importance of low AHI...
An AHI of 1.5 to 2.5 seems to be good for me. I go through periods where it is lower than that, but I've also had periods where it would be 0.2 or 0.3 simply because I was too restless to fall into a deep sleep. Instead of just looking at numbers, I consider how I feel from day to day. I also keep a journal. It's for life in general and not just sleep, but I can tell by my entries how I'm doing overall.

I feel worse if my ahi is over 2... (usually under 0.5)... I think I'd feel like crap if it was 5. Most people don't do the math, but an AHI of 5 means an average of 5 sleep disturbances an hour.. which is like someone poking you with a stick every 12 minutes... all night long.Timrtomr wrote: ↑Thu Apr 12, 2018 9:19 amI've been on machine 6 weeks and went from 54.8 to 5.2 to 5.8. I see my sleep doctor in two weeks to discuss my treatment.
Still feel extreme fatigue. Has anyone seen large improvement going from ahi 5 to ahi 1? I'm starting to think I have other health issues causing fatigue. I find it hard to fall asleep and no naps during day. Will continue using cpap because it can't hurt and makes sense....thinking of asking primary Doctor to check my thyroid .
No way you can get good rest that way.

and, that's at the 20 AHI....30? even worse.
Now I'm REAALLLY tired
I was adequately treated most of the time with my M Series Bipap. In may of last year I was changed to the DreamMachine as the other machine gave out. The #'s have been crappy ever since. I have been calling and had a sleep study and it still hasn't been treated adquately. I changed sleep centers and will get the results of my recent study tomorrowl
