The Alien on my face
The Alien on my face
I suppose a part of me has become friends with the Alien. I woke up this morning, and the straps were totally disconnected and thrown to the side. I vaguely remember doing battle with them sometime during the night, and being unable to figure out how to reassemble the contraption. Yet as I woke up, the mask was firmly in place. I'd evidently held it there with my hand for some time, and remained compliant. It'll be interesting later to pull up details on Sleepyhead, but the rough data from MyAir showed no "Large Leaks", and AHI remained under 3 for the night! Now to reassemble the rest of the mask for this evening, I can't hope to simply hold it in place throughout a full night.

I have a similar problem so I put my hair in a soft pony tail and put the band beneath it. I also bought some flat clips that fasten at Walmart and clip the band on each side. That seems to help the problem. I just have a noise from the nasal pillows that bothers me. I have a Dreamwear mask and I like the fact the hose is on top not on my nose. After 10 months my CPAP machine developed sound through the system. The new one works better but has less features.

Re: The Alien on my face
Zonker, I had to laugh! Seriously, though, it was encouraging in a strange way to realize that even sleeping, somehow I'd accepted the mask as a good thing and knew it was helpful. When I looked at Sleepyhead, it appears I went for an hour without the Cpap, and then somehow put it back on at least partially, holding it in place for the last hour and a half of my night. So I guess it's official, the Alien and I are friends, at just shy of six months on CPAP.

What you might want to do is to put a piece of cloth or other padding between your skin and the straps. Alternatively, you can google "Pad A Cheek".
Re: The Alien on my face
OK, I have to ask, because I have a terrible time keeping the strap from sliding up the back of my head and my hair is WAY too short for a ponytail, what kind of flat clips did you find? The last week or two before I get my hair cut, I can just scrape enough of a ponytail (maybe 3/4 of an inch? ) to hold the strap in place, but I had a haircut Tuesday, so the sliding strap is back!Rozzi wrote: ↑Thu Apr 05, 2018 1:18 pmI have a similar problem so I put my hair in a soft pony tail and put the band beneath it.
