Just diagnosed

Post by RodL1948 » Mon Apr 02, 2018 9:07 am

Greetings to all!

I was just diagnosed with OSA about 2 weeks ago and just received my CPAP machine and have been using it for the last 4 nights. I was very apprehensive about using the machine and felt it would be cumbersome and I would never be able to do it for the long haul. Needless to say, the first night was trying ... readjusting straps, reseating nose pillow, rerouting hose, etc. The second night was a little better but something still didn't seem right. By the third night, I decided to change the nose pillow from small to medium size. Wow, what a difference! No more pinching or restrictions and I was able to sleep in any position (back or either side) comfortably. Last night, my fourth night with the machine, I feel that I had the best nights sleep I have had in many years. I woke up refreshed this morning without the 'normal' fatigue I have been feeling for years! I know it will probably take 2 - 3 more weeks to get everything fully dialed in and to start feeling more like normal, but I'm on the way and I'm going to hang in there!

On another note. I was searching around the internet a couple of days ago researching CPAP and I happened across this forum. I've spent some time looking at various subjects and it has been quite informative. There are a lot of very helpful members here and I am glad to be a part of the group!
