I realize this is a double post, but the posts are on the same line.

I have a idea :!: , that would solve the problem, and be fair.

1. Allow site read only free.
2. New Members Sign Up fee, $5 or $10, This would allow posting, but would be revocable for the good of the site... I know this will be hard to deal with for some. Also a pain for the owner.
3. I think to cover the fee, CPAP dot Com could credit the fee on items on their web site. If revoked due to abuse, also a time limit of 3 or 6 months on the credit.

Do away with CAPCHA, they don't work and are a pain in the _ss!

I realize this will be added work for the site owner, but hopefully the traffic to the business site would cover the added effort. There may be reasons why this idea can't be done, but clearly we don't have a answer to this problem. :!: Jim

or require a credit card to register free. then the crap would stop, unless they're using a stolen card. you would have a means to positively id them and take legal action.

I googled a couple of them...Spider and one of the others a while back and it apparently is something that is commonly done so that search engines know what is being said and is used some how that way.

Webcrawler bots with different names.

Not a bad thing and they can't do anything harmful here. No big deal. They are just doing their job whatever it is.

This one Baidu [Spider] and the Yahoo bot are here right now...they come and go.

Hello everyone.

After our most recent spam attack, we've decided to change the flood limit (the amount of time between allowed posts).
It was set to 30 seconds, but has been increased to 1 minute.
This means you will not be able to make posts faster that this, and should help slow down any future spam attacks.
Can this be set back to where it is, now that new posters are pre-moderated?

I don't mind waiting--gives me time to think.
I know of others who might benefit from more time for thought . . .

It's very rare that I get hit with the "you posted to fast" message. I had forgot it was even in place.

I was concern I would but it never happened, Edits may not apply to the timer, and I only use two finger to type. My wife used to work for CBS, she typed 125 wpm, 8 hour shifts, no errors. I took her away from all that, she was very happy! Still is, she hated that place. Jim
