Trying to understand the numbers

Post by Timrtomr » Wed Mar 14, 2018 10:22 am

I still can't get sleepyhead to download.working on it. Sleep study showed ahi ..54.8 ....started therapy 3 weeks ago with my Resmed air-curve vauto . Don't know how Resmed programs machine but I'm showing constant range of ahi from 6.2 to 5.5.
Events down from 6.4 to 2.0. I'm happy with numbers but with 2 events why still at ahi 5.5. Average 8 hours a night. Feel better but still not my old self. Will talk with doctor about thyroid being tested. Can I tweet my machine?
Just trying to understand what numbers mean.

Don't know if you can tweet your machine, but would certainly like to hear what it sounds like if it is indeed possible.
You can certainly tweak your machine. Head over to http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual and request the clinican setup manual for your machine.
I hope you can get Sleepyhead up and running. The gurus here can help you optimize your settings once they can read some of your charts.

We don't know what the numbers mean and can't know until we see more than just numbers.

We need to know the event category breakdown of those numbers (that's available on your machine's LCD display)..do you know how to get that?
Plus we need to see when those events are happening and the only way to see them is with the detailed software data.

And yes...you can tweak the machine settings but without knowing what you are trying to fix...not a good idea to go changing things willy nilly.

Sounds like these numbers are from the machine's LCD screen and you are probably seeing a one day average and a 30 day average.
I forget the default for display time frame. Sometimes it's just the most recent session and sometimes it's the 24 hour reporting average and sometimes it's the 30 day average.

If you are thinking that you should be seeing 0s....don't be thinking that. While it can happen that we get lucky and no events at all...it's not common because sometimes the machine flags awake events by mistake and sometimes an apnea event slips past the defenses and sometimes people have sleep onset centrals which are normal and no big deal most of the time and the machine will still flag it.

What's the problem with SleepyHead? What kind of computer do you have? What operating system?

Yes what was the issue I had a heck of a time installing it and came up with a very odd approach to get it installed. Also by downloaded do you mean getting the install file on your computer, aka downloaded, or getting it installed once downloaded?
