Thank you, and yes I checked the SD card slot and it is empty. My sleep study tech said I didn't need the card because my machine uploads the data to my health care provider and I can also use the Resmed online Air software which IMO is as limited as the information that the machine itself can give me. I will buy the card tonight.

My machine is the Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset. I wanted to try out using the heated humidifier function of this unit. Yet there is no settings for turning it on even when I click on the clinical settings options. Is there some other part I need to buy that will trigger those settings to appear? I see that the water bowl has the metal plate on the bottom and so does the inside of the Airsense where the water bowl sits on. I am guessing I need the heated hose and maybe something else? Just wondering is all, I will call my health care provider and ask them about it but the hold times are unbelievable at times.

You need to set your humidity level. A zero is no humidity, and settings of 1 through 8 are the humidity levels, with 8 offering the most humidity.
Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.

Turning on the humidity turns on the heater. The only way to get unheated humidity is to put water in the humidifier and set the humidity level to 0. That is pass over humidity. When you heat the water, the air will pick up more moisture as it passes over the heated water. This will also warm the air slightly. If you want still warmers, turn up the heat on the heated hose.

I understand now, thank you. I didn't get a heated hose with my setup only the normal slimline hose.

Unless the bedroom gets very cold.
A little heat can prevent the dreaded ice schnozz.

First night since I got my cpap machine in early January that I choked myself awake the few times I almost got to sleep and my insomnia kicked in as well and I haven't slept at all. I am actually afraid to try again as if it continues to happen then it will put me on high anxiety alert again that I no longer have a way to get to sleep. And now I have to go to work and I am exhausted.

If you want to get better, you need to start a comprehensive discussion about your machine settings. You also need to learn to use Sleepyhead and post a chart of a typical night -

It's OK to come here and vent about how poorly you are doing. But, that won't help you improve. Take the above steps which can lead to improvement.

You have to sleep with the card in the machine... all the good data is written directly to the card.
