Old Remstar Auto ?

Post by Woody » Mon Mar 05, 2018 6:59 am

I have an older Remstar Auto, the pre M version that looks like a bread box.
I was just playing with it to verify it was still working properly before I gave
it to a friend as a backup machine. Well I used it last night but forgot to
put the Smartcard in the slot. So my question is does the machine still have
last nights data and now that I inserted the card will it write that data to the
card if so when will it do this. And is there a way to read last night's AHI without
using that smart card and Encore ?

Have the machine (as backup) but can't remember about this (also used Encore) so give it a try, see what happens.

I don't know how much data is stored on the machine to be written to the Smart Card...for sure no details though. At most you would get the summary data.

Some of those old Legacy series machines offered data on the LCD screen and some didn't.
If you can get into the clinical setup menu and find the "Show AHI" menu choice...that's what will make it available on the LCD screen.
If you don't see that choice available then the machine doesn't show it on the LCD screen.

Thanks I will see if I can find it. It's realy for a friend who has an old
cpap that's 9 years old. She needs to go for another sleep study but
has a $ 2000 deductible ! Although far from perfect I thought she
could use this old auto to get an idea if her pressure needs have changed
and anyway her 9 year old machine is living on borrowed time.

You lost the detailed data for the day the card was out, that's the only data that really matters. In my opinion that model is the best they ever made and all I have ever needed. I have 3, still using the first one from 2005 Encore Pro or Encore Basic and a Smart Card and reader are what works for data. Encore Basic is easy to install and use, downside you can't set up a Script to the Smart Card, you have to do that manually. I wouldn't trade any of my "Tanks", for a newer model, unless they all fail, not a problem for 30 more years, more than I will need. Jim

Check with LSAT if you want to maybe upgrade to a newer machine. Will cost a lot less than the $2000 deductible and maybe be all she needs. I think he might have a gently used AirSense 10 AutoSet.

I have a barely used S9 that I picked up for a backup and would be glad to let her have it for what I paid $300
