Red Face/Green Face

Post by CarCulmer » Sat Mar 03, 2018 8:30 am

I have been tracking my leak rate and AHIs for the last month using my four different masks because I was very curious how each one rated. One thing I have noticed with the red face-green face icons on the machine is that they are somewhat inconsistent in that I can have a red face with a leak "score" of 31 or I can have a green face with a score of 33. I even had a green face one time with a score of 42. When the tutorial in the My Air ap says if "your leak is more than 24 L/min, adjust your mask" it seems odd that the machine will give me a green face with rates way over that 24 cut off. I'm not often under 24 and get lots of green faces in the low 30s. Makes me wonder if I should pay much attention to these little faces!

The red/green thing is dictated by the amount of time over 24 L/min and not how far over 24 L/min you might go...nor is it dictated by the "score" which I think you are probably referring to the 95% number.
95% numbers just mean you were at OR BELOW that number for 95% of the night. People often don't understand or know about the "or below" part of the definition.

Mr Red Frowny face will show up with you spend 30% or more of the night above 24 L/min.
Mr Smile Face shows up when your time above 24 L/min stays below 30%.

When you are changing to a different type mask, are you changing the setting on your machine to match what the mask is supposed to be set at? That makes a difference on the machines calculated leak rates.

You shouldn't, you should get sleepyhead and see what's really going on.

I started to look into getting Sleepyhead but was stumped because it seemed like it wouldn't work with my machine - Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset. Was I reading something wrong in the area where it said what machines it works with?

SleepyHead will work fine with the AirSense 10 machines.

You download the software and execute it. You will have to create a profile. Once that profile is in place, close SleepyHead, re-open it, and click on the profile name, probably in bold red font in a small window. You will then be prompted to do one of three things, including downloading your results resident on an SD card, which your machine almost certainly has...or should have. Slide the protected SD card into an appropriate reader slot, and click on the SD importing app. From there, look at upper left menu and select 'daily' for the graphs. You'll want to conform to the conventions at this website by configuring that page. Please see the suggestions in the footnotes to Paleriders's signature.
