length of climate line hose

Post by tst29m » Fri Feb 23, 2018 1:41 pm

With my set up, the ResMed climate line hose is just not long enough. If I added an 18" extension, would it hurt the treatment or affect it in any way? (Sorry if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find anything on it!)

I have an 18" hose attached to my mask and then to the hose and it didn't affect my therapy at all. Didn't have to change pressure. If you download your data to Sleepyhead, you can see if there any changes to be made.

The only thing affected would be the reason you used the climate line hose in the first place. It could cool the moist water vapor in the hose causing rainout, but probably not enough to notice. Jim

I had no problems at all with the hose extension: no rain out, no discomfort, and no leaks! Now I can roll over in bed without the hose becoming detached. Thanks to Cpap.com for excellent price and speed delivery.

Technically, yes, it'll affect treatment, but only very slightly, it'll reduce the pressure you get at the mask by some fraction of a centimeter, since you're adding flow resistance the machine doesn't know about, and thus can't compensate for.

Without measuring, I couldn't say how much it'll lower the pressure, but as above, my guess is less than a half a cm.

So, practically, I'd say it won't affect treatment.
