Pillows

Should nasal pillow interfaces be leak free or is there usually adjustments made for slight leakage as with masks? Thanks.

Hi Hawthorne,

I have been using pillows for quite some time now, and if fitted properly, can be leak free. I started using the clear medium pillows and I got leaks. I think went to the sea foam green pillows and I don't get leaks at all.

Keep experimenting,

Regards,

Ted

Pillows and leaks

Post by Hawthorne » Tue Nov 09, 2004 8:45 am

Thanks Ted. I actually have the pillows with the new ComfortLite system from Respironics. It comes with masks and pillows. You get 2 sizes of each. I seem to feel most comfortable in the size 4 (smaller) pillows but also have the size 5. The respitory technician said that size 5 pillows looked to be the size for me when I was fitted, but they seem to irritate my nares. The package comes with headgear, 2 mask sizes and 2 pillow sizes. The pillows are one unit so you can't mix them like it appears you can with Breeze. I'm not really certain if I am getting a slight leak with the pillows or not. It's my first time using pillows so I have no experience.

Hi,

DME respiratory tech told me to use Ayr nasal gel if my nares get irritated. I tried without it first two nights on pillows and it was uncomfortable. Walgreens sells the gel over the counter and its not expensive, but most importantly it helps.
