Nasal Mask Questions - I got em

Post by bcfd36 » Fri Feb 16, 2018 9:48 pm

I've been using my Resmed N20 nasal mask for about 2 months now. Mixed results. I digress.

I was going to clean the mask and the tubing today, and I found the frame that the mask mounts to was almost broken through where the nose piece attaches to the frame. So I put some duct tape on it for now.
Questions:
  1. Shouldn't the frame be lasting longer than this?
  2. Is it possible to buy just the frame itself, and not the mask and elbow that goes along with it? Those parts work just fine right now. My on line searches have so far not found just the frame.
  3. How long should things last, e.g. mask itself, tubing, elbow, frame, etc.?
  4. Where do you buy your items, if that question is allowed.
  5. I am currently renting the air unit and the humidifier. In the long run, is it better to rent the damn thing, or buy them? (This will probably open a can of worms.)

frame only I think

Only place I found frame only was
EBay $12 with free shipping

Sorry I have no personal experience with the nasal masks but generally the frame itself will usually last for months and months with common sense care. Highly unusual for it to break with 2 months of use.

Where are you located and what does your insurance (if you have insurance) want to do for rent vs purchase of a machine?
Choices will depend on where you are located.

Pugsy, thanks for the input. I will look at EBAY and my insurance policy.
